WHAT WE DO

PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

Our major projects at DHIO are EARnpreneurs and HEARing projects. Meanwhile, we are continuously working to improve on our strategies to  discover smarter means of offering support and intervention that can empower deaf populations, other women and children with special needs

EARnpreneurs (Project EARn)

The project 'EARnpreneurs' aims to empower Persons with hearing loss (deaf) through the acquisition of relevant skills and knowledge to enable them become resourceful and financially independent.

It intends to provide services that will promote economic empowerment through skill acquisition, products/services marketing, job creation, resource linking/mobilization, educational opportunities and advocacy for inclusiveness in the area of equal opportunities for Person with hearing loss.

This project is about economic Empowerment, skill Acquisition and Resource-linking for persons with hearing loss.

Major activities of Project EARn

Capacity building on entrepreneurship
Skills acquisition
Online and real time exhibition forum for Deaf entrepreneurs
Marketing of products and services produced by Deaf entrepreneurs
Opportunities for soft loans or grants

The HEARing project

The HEARing project is a health facility intervention program targeting pregnant women and nursing mothers with hearing impairment through accompanying trained interpreters and special educators to facilitate communication at health care centres.

The HEARing project is intended to bridge the gap between persons with hearing disabilities and those without hearing disability by mitigating the health and socioeconomic impact of living with hearing impairment (especially among women and children).  We believe in a society where Persons with hearing disability can access related care and services (without discrimination or 'bottlenecks') and are empowered to live a normal life.

Other projects would be announced as soon as they commence.
